can't. Too many people need people who can understand them and who they can understand for helldesk to leave the US completely. It took me 11 years of it, but I'm finally more admin than helldesk now. (You'll almost never escape it entirely.) I know how bad it sucks to hear (I remember it well) but grinding, gritty, patience is the only way to get anywhere barring sheer luck, which you just can't count on. Look for the corporate support positions, as opposed to end-user. Your sanity will fray slower that way. :+)
