you're satisfied that all your questions have been addressed.
If the doctor leaves, just wait. When a nurse comes in to get the room ready for the next person, tell them you had more questions and are waiting for the doctor to answer them. If they say she's moved on to the next patient, tell them, it's okay, I can wait. Bring a book, and be prepared to out-wait her.
Another tactic is to write her a letter explaining just how you feel about her drive-by doctoring. At one point, I had a doctor who shorted me on time and attention, and when I asked to speak to him again he hovered in the doorway impatiently. I wrote to him, saying how disappointed I was. He had plaques on the wall for his teaching ability, and I told him what a pity it was he's let his skills in that area decline so badly. I was polite, but made my point clear. He apologized and never failed again to discuss treatments and options adequately. He just hadn't realized what he was doing until someone confronted him with it.
Perhaps try the letter first, and if that doesn't help, then the other tactic is still an option? |
