| The very fact that biological systems have wild variations in the responses to stimuli means that it often is the case that neither the solution nor, for that matter, the real *problem* is correctly identified on the first, second, or even fifth or sixth attempt. But I agree with your misgivings about the short shrift given to the subject of diagnostic evaluation by the physician; if you have options, it might be a good time to start looking at them. Also, don't be bashful about probing the library for information yourself; no one has a bigger stake in a successful outcome of your treatment than you do, so don't be shy about starting to take an active stand in guiding the course of treatment, particularly when it appears that the professional choices are not producing beneficial results. Often, the actively involved patient discovers that a key clue has been overlooked all along because no one ever thought to ask about it...and the patient never suspected that it was significant, because too many professionals are so uncommunicative about just about everything. |
