The kleptomaniac is just some poor sap with a mental illness which is considered a valid diagnosis in psychiatric/psycological circles.

Th poor slob who's starving - listen, even I have "light-fingered" the occasional tidbit or two when life was particularly lean for me. C'mon, the worst that can happen is I get busted, whereupon I still get three hots and a cot.
