couldn't be taken into account though. For that the neurons there would have to be able to memorize features, which I haven't read anything about. And the only input they get is from V2 (which functions as a subsequent stage in visual processing right after the primary visual cortex V1).

As far as taking into account the lighting, and guessing (or rather inferring) the original color - that might be the way to go, since the input would be able to deliver that kind of information. But still - how do they infer or guess if all they get is "hey dude there is some red light shining on this table here"
