there are 5 'IT' people in the company... and there are 7 sites. (each with 20 or so users, not including factory/warehouse/transport workers)... we're heavily centralised, so managing the systems is not a problem, but we rely on a 3rd party help-desk to deal with a large proportion of calls. They have admin access to all of our servers, hold our hardware stock (and install and repair hardware on sites for us.) (they're based 30 miles away from us, not India!)
We have a strict change request procedure, which is, in theory, the only way people are supposed to contact us with requests.
Still get phone-calls and emails with problems and requests every single day.... you're not alone, and hate to say it, but it's never going to stop completely :) |
