Read it wrong I think. The newborn are not related, are they? If they are twins, grief can be an issue: when asking the parents is out of the question (when they are indecisive for too long, or if they can't be reached for now), the method where one baby dies is more ethical: the next of kin will have a short time to prepare for the death of one of their beloved, and they won't have to loose both their children.

When the children are not related, and the respective parents can't be consulted or can't reach agreement it turns into a whole other issue. I still would opt for the method mentioned above, but if there was absolutely no way that medical science could benefit from it, the decision would not be very certain. I might just as well pray, flip a coin, pray again, do it.
