body keeps refering to the group as a polygamist sect. I am sure there are many polygamists who don't appreciate being lumped in with these animals. In a nutshell... one or more men and one or more women (for a total of 3 or more) = polygamists. Men taking 'child brides' in a 'spiritual marriage' that magically produces children = child abuse and statutory rape at a minimum. I don't care if someone's religion says it's okay to diddle with the kids. In my world view, and the majority of society agrees with me (and hence our laws reflect it), you don't do that. It's wrong. We have a group up in Bountiful. I can honestly say I don't know which category they fall into. Given that some of the kids have been found at the Texas ranch, I'm guessing they fall on the 'child rapist' side of the equation. Our provincial government has been leery about prosecuting them under our polygamy laws (it's not allowed) because they want to be sure they'll succeed first. I couldn't care less if they practice polygamy up there. If they're abusing kids, we should damn well be prosecuting them. Gah. It's crap like this that makes me feel like Reti.
