were victims of a random school shooting in 2006.
Remember them?
Charles Roberts stormed a one-room Amish schoolhouse in Pennysylvania in early October, resulting in both his death and the deaths of several young Amish women.
And in the midst of their own grief and burying their own dead, the Amish found time to support the widow and children of Charles Roberts.
They didn't hold a press conference. They didn't release carefully worded statements to the world through close friends or lawyers. They didn't set up a website or blog.
Instead, half (yes half) of the mourners at Charles Roberts's funeral were Amish. They showed forgiveness, love and support to a grieving women suddenly left without a husband or father for her children. They showed grace, in the most potent sense of the word.
And that grace is whispering like thunder to the rest of us.
Best,
Shane |
