Yes, it's a terrible decision for the parents, and might well traumatize them for the rest of their lives. But the decision is still their responsibility. Responsibility can be a terrible thing.

And besides, if I was in their situation, and the doctors made the call for me, I would be unspeakably angry. Wouldn't you?
