but you are not comparing apples/apples. I'm saying that the 100% knowledge that one will die isn't the same as operating in a sub-optimal scenario. You operate based upon the fact that you are giving the patient odds that are better than zero. Contrast that with you will kill one and another will live. In a triage scenario, you pick the best out of at least two sub-optimal choices, using statistics/chances to evaluate which option is better.

This isn't triage, because at this point, the math is the same -- both infants have a 50% chance of surviving either way, however, in one choice, you have a 100% chance one will die.
