can be an interesting place. You can walk down a street and go from typical suburbia to slums in a few blocks. I have been in parts of the town that I swore I would never return to without body armor. Like most cities in the Northeast, the local government is notoriously corrupt. Springfield's Major when I lived out that way had well established ties to the local Mob. They do need to clean the place up, but I agree with you, this attitude is counter productive.
