Film has a relatively gradual reduction in MTF. Details at the 25Mpix level may be resolvable, but the contrast between them is likely quite poor. Digital has a much harder stop. When the MTF reaches pixel-level detail, the MTF just goes to zero. And anti-aliasing filters on most cameras just make it worse.

If you're pushing 35mm film to that level of resolution, then you're compromising on many other image quality parameters. That may be just what _you_ need, but for almost all other people, film never approaches that level of resolution.
