"Yeah, sure, I'm corrupt, but how dare you be corrupt." Or self-interest "Yeah, sure, I'm corrupt, but I'm not going to let you be corrupt in any way that threatens me." Or "I'm going to call you on your corruption to foster a positive public image for me and/or my country." It's sinking in with me more and more everyday that the only thing that keeps one political entity's corruption in check is another political entity's corruption.
