A (horrible) Question of Ethics by Illiad2008-04-28 08:51:02

Um. Isn't it the point of a vaccine to up resistance to a pathogen PRIOR to infection, not after?

Maybe you meant something more like a custom phage, or special antibiotic - something intended to fight an infection, not reduce chances of an infection.

If the latter is the case, and you CAN follow RetiQlum2's suggestion (which may not be possible - some phages can be blocked by antibiotics, for instance) don't forget to keep a couple blood samples of both kidlets so you don't have to face this dilemma a second time - instead, test both agents against the blood culture.

Who knows - you might just find something interesting - like it takes both treatments to kill off the infection.
