There's been a lot of work on making it so the unwashed can use linux -- but that market positioning is wrong, wrong, wrong. That killed OS/2, too.

It is not an easy interface, *BUT* you only have to learn it once. How many times do you have to re-learn how to do the same task in windows because some idiot focus group had one too many bong hits (not that that's a bad thing) and said the best way to get the dregs of the marketplace to buy a computer is to change everything? I can talk a reasonably intelligent long term windows user into moving to linux with just that one argument. They've all been burned, and it just gets worse with each new version. The only thing that perplexes me is that people keep on having the relearning/rebuying issues, and don't look for a better way.

If they don't want to learn, fine. I'm OK with that. Just get a Playstation or whatever gaming platform appeals and get off my phone. It's not because I'm superior or an elitist -- just that I only have so much time in a day, and the right tool for people that don't want to learn an OS is a gaming platform, as those are aimed exclusively at that sort.
