| Killing Vista - Ressurecting Linux |

Must be years since I last wrote on this forum.
So I bought a new laptop which had Vista preinstalled on it.
The laptop came with 1gb ram.. (jammed in 2 matched bricks for a total of 4gb's shortly thereafter, heh).
And after having Vista installed for 3 months, I'm sick and tired of it. One should think that the paperclip was the most horrible M$ could come up with, but alas, no.
And M$ have said themselves that the frequent asking for permission is there simply to bug people in Vista.
I want to be admin on my own computer %#"%&"¤ <insert appropriate choice of wording>.
So anyhow. I've been looking on the new release of Kubuntu, and I like what I've seen so far.
But it's been years since I last used Linux.
Last time I used SuSe with KDE (maybe why I'm looking at Kubuntu, sticking with familiar thingies).
This is starting to get a bit long.
To put it short 'n simple.
What "Linux" OS should I go for?
It's used for some office work, surfing the web, and a bit gaming.
Openoffice is no problem, Wine is no problem to play games.
But is there anything I should be aware of when looking for wich one to install as my new OS?
Or should i just stick to one I like and be happy?
A bit confusing post, feel free to add anything relevant/not so relevant ^^ |
