It's been one of those days, yes indeed.
I woke up wondering why the house was dark & quiet, & my alarm clock hadn't gone off to get me up in time for a job interview.
Oh look, we'd had a power outage.
Check my watch (to see if it's even possible to get there on time) & nod - 45minutes to make a location 30minutes away.
Try to shower & find out there's no hot water.
Decide to pass on the shave, since shaving in ice cold water is NOT my idea of fun.
Start to get dressed & realize the dress shirt has a stain on the chest.
Throw it in the washing machine & grab another shirt, only to find it, too, has a stain.
Throw IT in the machine, grab another shirt, check it for stains (none), but then it needs to be ironed.
Which I can't do because there's no power.
Wear a vest over the top of the shirt, knowing it won't do any good, & head out the door.
Get to the interview & the lobby is full of applicants.
Sign in, sit down, and wait my turn.
And wait, and wait, and wait... (Am I at the DMV?)
Finally get called nearly an HOUR after my interview time (grrr) only to have the interview itself last all of five minutes.
("I don't see a Degree listed on your application."
That's because I don't have one.
"Well, that cuts this real short then, I'm afraid.")
[Biting off the urge to drag the interviewer out into the lobby & beat the snot out of them.]
Go home, toss the suit in the washer, change clothes, & try to figure out what to eat for lunch...
Then realize that, without power, I can't cook anything.
Scrounge around for something that doesn't require cooking ("...an apple, an orange, some cheese..."), and the power comes back on.
So I get Ramen for lunch. mmmMMMmmmm Ramen. =J |
