A small anecdote about shyness by shargo 2008-04-07 15:04:09
When I went to highschool I was still quite shy. One weekend
there was an contest for the scouts in the area and I were in
a team. One station was to make a stretcher out of some
saplings and rope and then carrying one of the team-members on
it. While doing this we saw that there was a guy taking photos
but that was quite common, after we were done with the station
and presented himself, he was from the local newspaper. Of
course a picture of us were chosen. Of course it took up a
large part of the first-page of the papers second part.

I hoped that not to many had seen it before they went to school
that morning. I never new if many had read it at breakfast, it
was clearly visible on the schools notice-board. Geez... did I
want to sink through the ground (guess who run in the front of
the stretcher).

But that day I realized one thing, standing out doesn't matter
as long as I can stand for who I am and what I'm doing. I was
then and I am still ashamed of my body (to heavy) but that
doesn't matter in the same way because I am proud of what I am!
Since that day I can stand in front of both known and unknown
people, I can be serious or a clown but most of my shyness is
gone. (Still hard to let someone in really close emotionally
though).
