ultimate programmer's comfort by dennismv2008-04-07 10:49:42
Outside but without the drawbacks by EndlessWaves 2008-04-07 13:42:26
Feeling of space, fresh air, sunlight but not too high a temperature. Nice smells like cut grass or pine.

Noise should be as quiet as possible, maybe some faint natural noises. Computer should be quiet but not silent.

Chair and desk should be comfy for fourteen hour stretches, I would go for firm but not hard. Should be solid enough to survive repeated thumpings/kickings and shouldn't wobble when typing.

Decorations? If you've noticing the decorations you're not programming properly.

Keyboard? Pick your mechanical/capacitive keyboard of choice. Some people like IBM buckling springs (Model F/Model M), some people like alps switches (Apple Extended, Apple Extended II, AT101/AT101W/AT102/AT102W), some people like brown or blue cherry MXs (Cherry G80, Das Keyboard, Filco Majestouch), some people like topre's capacitive switches (Topre Realforce 101, Happy Hacking Keyboard Professional 2).

Mouse? Any optical mouse you happen to find comfy.
