That was the number I've usually heard for the Holocaust. Hitler's total extermination program was somewhere around 10 million. Stalin purged 20 million and Mao 30 million. I've always wondered why Hitler was so vilified and Mao was called a "great man" (Boston Globe - covering Mao's death)
