Let us count the dead by waddo 2008-04-07 10:45:24
I am referring to the Holocaust. Ccapitolised to refer to the systematic slaying of Jews in germany in the WWII era. I have now been taught three different numbers at three different times. These numbers have a striking similarity to them.

First I was taught that "nearly 4 million Jews were killed". next I was taught that "over 4 million Jews were killed". recenty while perusing Wikipedia, I came across the number as 6.5 million Jews. In World religion class today, the professor made the statement that ~6 million Jews were killed.

The odd thing I have noticed here is that each time I have "learned" about this, the number very closely correlates to the total population of the earth. The first time I learned this we had not yet hit the 4 billion mark. the second time we had just passed the 4 billion mark. Now we are well into the 6 billion mark.

I asked my parents what number they learned when they were in school, and neither could recall. My mother could not even recall being told a number. My step father could only remember that the number seemed very large. These are people born during WWII.

What I would like from the ufie community is what you learned was the number and approximately when you learned that number. I need what you remember being told when you were in school. (grade school, high school, doesn't matter)

I find it very interesting that each time I learned about the holocaust, the number of Jews exterminated seems to reflect approximately .1% of the population of the planet AT THE TIME I LEARNED IT.
