don't have many examples but I came across smugmug (dot com) that appears to be making 1M, or more (from other sources).

Plus, any top 500 ranked company is probably doing quite nicely. While something like Yahoo or Google is out of a single person's reacah, some of the top sites can be recreated by a single person in a reasonable amount of time.

One problem that I see is building a site, but having no people coming to it and having no name recognition. That is probably a show stopper. How do you battle that ?
