Most Sony camcorders made in the past 10 years have both IR remote (I assume that is NOT what you want to use,) and their wire-based control scheme. (I don't remember what it's called right now, but one of the uses was high-end tripods had controls on the tripod handle, so you plugged a wire in from the tripod to the camcorder, and you could start/stop/zoom from the tripod 'movement' handle.)
