hardware question: removing heatpaste by swisscheese 2008-03-20 21:44:04
I've got my hands on some old PIII CPU's, (which may or may not be any good, but would be much better than my current 633Mhz)

I'm told that I should be able to boot them long enough to get the BIOS flash-screen, (without needing to mount the heat-sink) to test whether they're OK.

If I find one that's OK, I'll have to remove the old heat-paste crud, before using fresh.

What's a good way to do this?

Is nail-polish remover a suitable cleaner? Or do I need to try something else?
