This is America. When Ordering, "Speak English" by Illiad2008-03-20 10:28:36
  Thanks, now I'm hungry for a cheesesteak. by RetiQlum2 2008-03-20 10:48:41
"One witness, University of Pennsylvania sociology professor Camille Z. Charles, likened the "speak English" signs to "whites only" signs from the Jim Crow era."

No it's not: it's about speaking the same language as the people around you. That is common courtesy. When I go to a foreign country I learn to say things like please, thankyou, can I have another beer, where is the bathroom, before I even get there.

"My hovercraft is full of eels."
