He doesn't let his son read Harry Potter, see The Golden Compass, etc.
What I thought was funny growing up is that a friend of mine was an ultra-conservative, and after he read one of those anti-Dungeons and Dragons books (this was the mid '80s, mind,) he immediately dropped all his D&D books off at my house. My initial reaction was "Wow, cool! There's like $100 in books here, thanks!" Then I said "Uh, does this mean you have given up on "saving" me?" He turned beet red, got a shocked look on his face, and tried to take the books back. I said I'd keep 'em, and risk my soul. :-p
This was a guy who later refused to read *ANY* fantasy, including the Narnia series. Regardless of my protestations of its Christian roots. |
