why do people have to be so "close minded" ? by Garrinka 2008-03-19 18:47:03
my kid just had one of his friends over... and started showing him how to play warhammer 40K..

he told me later that his friend started "freaking out" ...
when seeing the Necron's and stuff.. aka "demons"

kidlet explained before in that he told his friend it's like a holy war..

with good *and* a bad side..

his friend was also looking at a Dragon's animated cartoon.. and I asked him if he wanted to borrow it.. that was when I found out that this kid's stepdad doesn't like "fantasy stuff" ..

I can respect people's religous beliefs.. but to the point that their kids can't watch fantasy movies or play magic the gathering.. or play Warhammer 40K..

none of these things teach kids to summon demons .. or succor them to the dark side..

this was like the talk I got into with my ex sis-in-law over the movie "The Golden Compass"..

she was hesitant to let her kids watch it.. this was the same person who let her kids read *all* the Harry Potter books..

so I brought that up as a counterpoint.. she got kinda quiet after that .. and we changed the subject..

for gosh sakes these kids are smart enough.. at least check out something before dismissing it out of hand ...
