Why do satellites beep? by MrTrick2008-03-19 16:19:05
That's what the data trancieving process sounds by taitano 2008-03-19 16:44:38
like. Seriously.

If you tune in to a weathe and/or other imaging and scanning satellite's signal they usually have a beep as the data transmits in bursts and pulses. Various kinds of comm sats, television for instance, sound more like a 28K-56K modem with the speaker on. They range in tone from low bass like WOPR to high-pitched; some multi-band com sats sound a lot like R2-D2 as parties talk back an forth with each other.
