and likely to go up as he needs more personalized care. True, he doesn't have to pay a whole lot for his medical (his meds are running about 100/month). Once he moves into the Alzheimer's wing of his assisted living place, the rent will increase 150/month for less than half the square footage he has now.

Thank all the gods that he has a very good pension, because it would break me and my brother if we had to pay to keep him there. I don't know what my inlaws are going to do when they burn through the money they received from their house sale. State nursing homes are not a place I'd want to wind up. That's for sure.

The problem for seniors is when they have to leave their homes because they can't take care of them anymore, or they are too big or they can't do the stairs, or they get dementia and can NOT be left on their own.

Oh, and his "depends" bill is running at about 80 bucks a month right now.
