from the "rabble". Mostly, the benefit of a house (once it is paid) is, that in retirement you don't have to worry about rent or loosing shelter. The day to day expenses should be less. IMO, buying a house should, ideally, be lower than paying rent (the other expenses of a house should be included, like taxes or general upkeep).
