My first ex-fiancee tried the "I still want to be friends" routine. When I told her to get lost she then told all her friends "What an a3hole I was being about it."

Her friends didn't know the whole story, they ran into me one night and started laying into me about how she didn't deserve to be treated like that yadda yadda yadda.

Boy did they get quite an earful that day. I explained exactly why the engagement got broken off and that porcine aviation was more likely than me ever being able to look at my-ex without ever being reminded of exactly how badly she betrayed my trust. (Lying, then cheating, then lying about the cheating, and then lying to everyone else to make me look like the guilty party...)

I've got no advice other than getting drunk to drown my sorrows didn't help, turns out the little SOBs can swim.
