Okay... time for bike advice again. by mekkanik_mike 2008-02-13 22:10:48
Damage to the bike so far: Friction plates shot, and a bore that's smoking like a chimney. Now that the carbon's gone, it's getting more evident day after day. Sooooo....

Service estimate for getting a bore and a clutch polate replacement: ~3500 INR
Current life of the bore: 290086 km (+ ~1200km when the odo wasnt working)
Fuel Efficiency: ~45km/ltr [pathetic]. This bike should be giving atleast 60-65 km/ltr.
Age of the bike: closing in on 4 years.

Given this:

1. How long can I expect a new bore to last? (The last was was most likely impacted by infrequent running and incorrect service intervals.)
2. Will a new bore/piston improve fuel efficiency?
3. Will it be the start of a fresh lot of issues?
4. Should I simply sell this off and get a new one?
