One side would rather escalate an event an attack with a loaf of bread until someone ends up in a body bag. The other side thinks that not killing someone is more important than that the bad guy comes off worst from the exchange and will let the justice system take care of supplying a suitable punishment for the crime. If you are going to sum things up you could at least try to be make the bias slightly less blatant.
