that I think is very revealing.

The US has more people in prison, per capita, than any other country in the world.

This could mean that law enforcement efforts are very good. It could mean that very lengthy sentences are common. Or it could mean that there are more criminals per capita. Or any combination of the three. It's funny how that difference between the US and other countries escaped this particular opinion piece.
