there are 4 of us we each maintain servers, install new servers, assess and implement new software and systems, provide 1st, second and 3rd line support, train users in using new software, run network cabling, manage mobile phone, Blackberry, and landline contracts, sit in on any meeting that has anything to do with IT, perform systems analysis at every level of the business, and write and maintain our own code.
Do you think I have TIME to read someone elses badly documented code when we hit a show-stopping bug?
If we DO get such a problem, then the person who wrote it will have to fix it all by themselves, no matter what else they had planned, and we won't be able to help, at all... that's their problem :)
If they want to be a 'REAL' programmer due to some elitist notion... that's their choice. |
