Wiretaps allowed upon grant of warrant. Telecom wiretaps were done WITHOUT warrant, ergo illegal. And btw, FISA was established to PREVENT exactly this sort of action.

If what he did was NOT illegal, why to the telecoms now need protection? If this were a legitimate action, done for "national defense", at the very least, the telecoms would have a "good faith" defense. Are you honestly comfortable living in a state where the law is "whatever I say it is". Maybe I missed the memo, but I'm pretty sure we decided against "devine right of kings" a few hundred years back.
