Ordnance-Corner For UFies by DesertRat662008-02-13 08:29:38
Really really stupid Hollywood/gun question by Hieraco 2008-02-13 08:53:07
(But I am asking seriously and would like to know)

In the movies (which we all know are true to life) you often see the hero being chased by the baddies and he/she dives into a lake river, ocean what ever. The baddies shoot their 200 round magazine automatics rifles into the water. You see the (CG) bullet trails zipping around the person in the water.

so my question(s): a) how far into the water would a round penetrate (say a 5.56 NATO round for an M16 or a 9mm pistol round)
b) how much would the refraction of the water throw off the aim?
c) Why do you run out of bullets before the good guy runs out of breath?

(O.K. last question was not asked seriously)
