Define "Professional Software" by UGuardian 2008-02-09 15:06:44
Recently I ran across a debate flame war that was yet another battle in one of the classic geek holy wars: "My OS is best".

During the thread, both parties made the same response and they weren't just parroting each other. One claimed that "There's no professional software for Linux" while the other claimed that "Professional software isn't available for Windows".

Now I'm curious: what the hey is "Professional Software"? Is it a program that has a degree and earns a living in a white-collar job to support his 1.5 children and stay at home wife? What is it?

I'm thinking it's software that's buzzword compliant, but then there's plenty of that going around, so I must be wrong.
