Most folk are too busy trying to stay alive under the rule of the Alliance to worry about "what's out there".

The edge of space is just the "boundary" of how far they've explored.

I mean, they *KNOW* they came from Earth. That alone blows the "Flat Earth" theory out of the water. It would be like saying "Ok, we KNOW we come from Mars, but the edge of Earth is all there is."
