fuses will not protect your equipment against overvoltage, just overcurrent, and even in the event of overcurrent will still take time to blow depending on the amount of overcurrent and fuse characteristica. A slowblow (T) will take a small amount of overcurrent for quite some time, whereas your equipment might not...
