With a orbital station around Mars, and a prepared ground station bringing humans there would be a lot less risky.
Also, IF something breaks on the human transport vessel, it would be easier to get spare parts to them, so that also lowers the risk.
Plus, any mined raw materials could be transported back to earth easily.
So that would be a big step towards space colonization, at least inside our own solar system.
So unmanned FTL could push the limit of habitation out into the solar system, and the limit of unmanned scientific probes out to the nearest stars. |
