and non-organic supplies. Tech support for things that can not be made by the colonists, while embryos and seeds and the like will be shipped with the slowboats. One advantage to this is that you can get the colonists underway then decades later send the FTL with the latest technology to support the colony and it would arrive before the slowboat. Downside, if there is a war/social collapse the colonist may show up and there would be no support equipment.
