What if FTL was possible, but killed any living thing that used it?


Specifically, the method is to punch a hole into another universe with slightly different basic laws. The match is close enough that the same technology functions to punch back into our universe. Sadly it is not close enough to allow life as we know it to continue. Machines have to be specially made to allow them to operate in both realities.

Lets use a theoretical breakdown of anything organic. Somebody here can come up with something that sounds good I'm sure.
