Possibly along the lines of Neuschwanstein, but with a more practical defensive design, based on the Norman castles.

Add modern double-glazing and draught-proofing, solar for hot water and heating (include large rock-filled tanks for heat storage) and PV solar for lighting and computers. Must have well for own water supply, all sewage to be processed by an aerobic wastewater system for recycling in the castle fruit & veg garden and the vineyards.

I could go on, but won't - it'll just make me all upset that I know that my dreams will never be fulfilled...
