So I did what was suggested, did a dist-upgrade, update, dist-upgrade, and remarkably enough, nothing broke. The other remarkable thing is that even after all my panic, installing cmatrix STILL requires to do the same stuff as before:)
I don't know what to do. Maybe at a latter time, I'll get the guts to type that malicious phrase. ('Yes, do as I say!')
The current list of stuff it wants me to do is here. Any kind of help appreciated. Now excuse me, I'm gonna frolic about not breaking anything.
