Dual format players won't matter. At all. If nobody makes HD-DVD content, nobody will need an HD-DVD player: 6 out of 8 studios publish on BluRay exclusively.
And while it doesn't matter, either, which movie studio chooses which format, it matters what the *majority* of studios choose. BluRay offerings are increasing, while HD-DVD is stagnating or even falling (Warner is in the BluRay camp now. MS is supposedly going to offer a BluRay player for the X-Box 360, while the PS3 already has one..).
In short: HD-DVD is not gathering the critical mass to overcome the chicken-egg problem, while BluRay is slowly, but surely, taking the lead. |
