If the monitor is a CRT, and you go about poking around the insides, there can be lethal voltages present DAYS after the unit has been turned off and disconnected. The safest thing to do is short the B+ to the tube directly to ground, after unplugging and turning off the monitor. Also remember the 'one hand rule' - always keep one hand in your pocket. That limits the possability of current flowing across you heart should you accidentally come into contact with a stored charge in the monitor.
