Tryin' to get some Quake II goin' on... by Myke2008-01-20 18:18:48
  Is there a Linux client? (n/t) by nix2008-01-20 18:26:00

Hasn't been touched in just over 2 years, but it worked the last time I tried it. You need the data from the real quake2, though, since only the engine was open-sourced (at least for single-player, which is all I ran). I also turned on some "better graphics" support in the client when I compiled it (something about JPEGs, I think?), which did make it look a lot better, IMO. Not sure how well those changes would interoperate, though.
