Don't assign intentions or reasons or emotions to peoples actions. You don't know what went through their mind when they got the presents, if they got them, and so on. Even if you saw them on the game it doesn't mean they did anything about it, meant to do it later, forgot about it. It can be uncomfortable when people split up, it's not just about how the couple splitting up interacting with their friends - it's also about how the friends react to the couple having split up.
